Job Purpose 

As a data journalist you will  be paramount to ensuring the editorial stories we release  for our key clients uses data and information that is  world class. You’ll be responsible for sourcing data, and creating an engaging story from your findings.

How You Will Make a Mark

In the data journalist role you will:

  • Build a deep understanding of the kind of data that is needed for our clients, and support the creative team to build amazing stories that get picked up by the press. You’ll be able to source data, manipulate it, and find the best way to present it.
  • You’ll be incredibly numerate and analytical, and you’ll love breaking down problems or tasks. You can work with incredibly complex data sets, can source data in clever ways, and are an expert in Excel.
  • You’ll have the ability to present complex information in an easy-to-understand manner that tells a great story.
  • Be responsible for building this arm of the service, ensuring the way we get our data is ethical and reliable, and the methodologies behind stories and data sets is top notch.
  • Be at the forefront of the industry, with everything from processes, trends campaign styles, ways of working and creativity. 
  • Have full accountability for our data output, being involved at the ideas stage for creative campaigns, and are able to go from idea to reality quickly.
  • Be confident managing your workload, overseeing complex and multi-service projects, working to deadlines and prioritising tasks to keep on top of multiple campaigns, clients and other tasks.
  • Help shape and progress our offering, not just follow instructions. You’ll have a knack for identifying new opportunities and areas of improvement, and have the confidence to try new things. 
  • Any other ad hoc duties as required by the business.

The Application Process

The application process consists of an initial telephone interview to find out more about how your skills fit against the role competencies and your experiences. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask us any questions to ensure we’re the right fit for you.

If successful we’ll ask you to complete one of our personality profiling tools to find out more about your work preferences. You’ll be given a role specific presentation to prepare for your second interview and asked more technical questions relating to the role.
